At Connected Media Group, we’re passionate about helping the next generation of marketers build the skills they’ll need in a fast-changing industry. Since 2018, we’ve partnered with the University of Wollongong (UOW) as guest lecturers and content consultants, bringing real-world marketing experience into the classroom and helping bridge the gap between theory and practice.

This semester, our team delivered two masterclasses for Associate Professor Michael Mehmet: one on content strategy, and another exploring the impact of Generative AI on marketing.

Exploring the Role of AI in Marketing – March 2025

In March, Vijay Chander, Laurence Tuchin, and Christie Wade joined UOW students for a lively discussion on The Impact of Gen AI.

We were impressed by how naturally AI is being integrated into coursework at UOW. Michael’s approach encourages students to embrace new tools with critical thinking and human oversight - exactly how AI should be used in marketing.

Our team shared the AI platforms we rely on daily and real-world case studies that show how AI is changing content creation, media planning, and audience analysis.

One highlight: demonstrating how we track site visits from Gen AI tools to our clients’ websites - helping us monitor shifts in consumer behaviour and refine strategies accordingly.

Bringing Content Strategy to Life – April 2025

In April, Gabrielle Butcher and Todd Leussink led a masterclass on Planning Your Content Mix. The session unpacked the paid and owned elements of the PESO model (Paid, Earned, Shared, Owned) and demonstrated how marketing calendars help brands turn strategy into action.

Using examples drawn from our work, we showed how thoughtful content and channel planning connect every stage of the marketing funnel - aligning with a brand’s tone of voice and business goals.

We always enjoy collaborating with Michael and his students, reinforcing the connection between strong academic foundations and the realities of a career in marketing.

Supporting Future Marketers

Beyond our classroom collaborations, Connected Media Group offers an internship program for final-year students studying marketing or related disciplines.

Now in its fourth iteration, the program provides hands-on experience - helping emerging marketers build confidence and practical skills before entering the industry. While not limited to UOW students, we’re proud to maintain a close relationship with the university and its talented graduates.

We’re committed to nurturing future marketing leaders and continuing to share our expertise where it all began for many of us.
